It has a fishtail hem of lace and double layered tulle. The front of the dress closes with buttons and a hook closure at the neck. The full length sleeves close at the wrist with two snaps each.
This dress was worn by Lenora Van Den Berghe to her wedding on August 17th, 1938 in Kewanee, Illinois. Various breaks in the lace throughout the dress, especially on the shoulders, under the arms, and on the front of the bodice as pictured. Some small brown spots on the edge of the tulle hem seen in the last photo. The lace is rather delicate and should be handled very carefully. This is definitely in need of some TLC. Would be great displayed in a wedding museum.
I really dont advise wearing this dress as the lace is fragile and doesnt take much to cause more breaks. Really should be for study or display. The item "Antique 1930s Dress Lace Wedding Bias Cut Matching Slip" is in sale since Sunday, December 13, 2020.
