Victorian Edwardian Tea Dress Sleeveless Lace Petticoat Sz 6
Victorian Edwardian Tea Dress Sleeveless Lace Petticoat Sz 6. A Victorian or Edwardian white sleeveless cotton tea gown, tea dress or lawn dress with lace edging on the scoop neckline and arm holes, a low scope back with a wide lace panel on the back, tiny buttons up the front, a drawstring silk ribbon on the neckline, and a slightly gathered, wide bottom flounce with many rows of insertion lace and a lace edge. The dress is fitted through the bodice and hips, and then flares out with the flounce.

The dress comes with a long, sage green silk sash, which, when tied on the waist of the dress, looks lovely. The dress is semi-sheer and unlined, and it is photographed with a modern slip underneath (not included with the dress) - any modern slips with a full skirt would be appropriate or use a period camisole and petticoat. The dress would have originally been a petticoat, but in today's context makes a fine tea dress or a summer white reminiscent of images from American impressionist painters like Helen H.

Turner, Richard Edward Miller, George W. Benson and Abbot Fuller Graves. The cotton is light weight and wonderfully cool for the sun drenched warmth of spring and summer. The dress has simple lines and elegant styling with the wonderful blousey look of summer. The approximate measurements of the dress are as follows.

Bust (pit to pit): 34. Waist 26 (no room to let it out). Shoulder to shoulder across the back 14. Sash 1 7/8 w x 85 1/4 l. These measurements are approximately equivalent to a modern US size 6 with lots of room in the waist and hips. The dress is just above the ankle on my 6' model and would be full length on a person of average height. There are no major condition issues with the dress. The fabric is strong and crisp with no sign of thinning or deterioration. There are no holes, tears or repairs that I could find in the main part of the dress, although I did find a few small holes in the lace especially around the drawstring neckline, but these are not seen as the lace is folded back, and a few small breaks in the brides of the insertion lace. The buttons are all there. However, this is an antique garment that is at least 100 years old, and there may be some minor signs of age related wear. That I did not notice or record. The dress appears to be hand made with machine and hand stitching, and there are some irregularities in the horizontal pleats on the skirt (see photos). The dress has been recently gently laundered and is clean and fresh. The dress is also shown with an Edwardian white linen jacket and fillet lace sash (not included - see our other listings) which gives the tea dress more of a walking suit look, and such a jacket would be perfect for cool evenings at the seaside. Hats and accessories not included - see our other listings. Ready for your Edwardian tea or garden party, a costume event at the beach or on deck, or an Edwardian themed summer wedding. Perfect to wear to your Diner en Blanc event! Get the American Impressionist look of George W.

Benson's summertime with this beautiful Edwardian tea dress. This is NOT a reproduction, this is a real Victorian or Edwardian lace trimmed sleeveless tea dress with a wide lace flounce, and simple elegant lines. Another great Victorian or Edwardian tea dress, only from Antiquarius Antiques. Scroll down to see more pictures of the tea dress, which are part of the description.

Color can vary between individual monitors. Although we are experienced dealers in antique and vintage clothing and accessories, we are not experts on everything. We have attempted to describe the item to the best of our abilities, and to point out any flaws. However, we may not have highlighted something that is important to you in the description, so please review the photos carefully as they form part of the description and they show the true condition of the item. We strive for totally satisfied customers who are happy to leave good feedback, and we are willing to go the extra mile to make you a satisfied customer! Please be aware that vintage clothing is neither new nor perfect. In many cases, vintage clothing has been worn and is no longer new, and that is why it is such a good bargain. Excellent antique or vintage condition rarely means new - do not expect new or perfect as there will almost always be some signs of wear, especially with older items.

Sometimes we sell newer vintage items that are new old stock (NOS) so they have never been worn and can be in such excellent condition that there are no signs of wear. But some of the garments we sell are 75 years old or more, and even if they were never worn, the fabric may show signs of wear just from being stored all those years. Please assume that older vintage and antique items may have a little dust and/or a few age spots, unless we have specifically stated that we have recently laundered the item. Nevertheless, vintage is a great way to dress extravagantly without having an extravagant budget.

You can often find extraordinary examples of antique, vintage or designer items that are wearable textile art and will make you look like a million bucks!
