Hello and welcome to the Textile Trunk! Such a gorgeous black silk slip! This dates to the late 19th century, and has been cut along the bottom with pinking shears.

As a slip, this would have been worn under a dress, probably underneath of a corset as the closest to skin layer. I haven't seen anything like this - an amazing example of a historical undergarment! It doesn't get any better! This piece could also be great for study or for design inspiration as well!

MEASUREMENTS : This gorgeous Vintage French slip measures : 33 inches long 37 inch chest 43 inch waist 8.5 inches from shoulder to shoulder (strap to strap) CONDITION : This textile is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. The seam has split at the waist on one side, there is an opening of about 2 inches, which could be repaired if you so desire!
