Antique Child's Christening Outfit Hat, Coat, Dress Slip Excellent Condition
Armpit to armpit 12.5 across. This christening outfit came from a "summer" home in Kennebunkport, Maine. The preserved wardrobe stopped in time in the late 1960's. Everything was preserved in garment bags.
She was a wealthy New Yorker who summered in Kennebunkport. Most of the tags originated from New York or a private tailor. Over the next weeks, I hope to put more up. This Christening outfit and other baby clothes were preserved in a garment bag and away from light.
It is in almost mint condition. I did not want to wash it, but did touch it up with an iron with a protective piece of cloth between the garment. There is not tag in it. The hat and coat are fully lined and luxurious. The Sateen dress is beautifully embroidered with pin tucks, as well.The style of the yoked collar seems to be pre 1920. Most of the Children's clothing that accompanied this were from Best and Co Fifth Avenue NY. There are a few tiny tiny spots on the coat and one small rust spot on the ribbon on the bonnet. I was afraid to wash it.
