A true time capsule from the late Victorian, early Edwardian era. Expertly crafted underpinning by a knowledgeable seamstress for a lady of means.
Delicate lingerie lace ribbon insertion shoulders that trim the yoke, armholes & back of this fine, wispy garment. The same matching lace is repeated around the embroidered scallop chest panels & in the double ruffle flounce base. Her wispy, fine cotton lawn so beautifully hugs the Gibson Girl S-Bend, S-Curve silhouette and flouncing out at the base with the prettiest.These full length, fully gored, double ruffle Gibson era models are getting harder & harder to find. Due to her excellent condition, showing very little wear except for the marks showing she was let out at one time. She is as if you just ordered her from your seamstress over 120 yrs. I will include some period pink silk ribbon to weave through her embroidered chest panels!
The pink ribbon presently running through her yoke n photos is a newer ribbon. Closes down the back placket with the 6 original all matching mother of pearl petite buttons. Photos taken of doors in natural light. Garment is so bright, I'm having trouble. If they are present, I cannot see them.
Only marks of it being let out for length in the slightly upper to mid torso area near the waist. One very small hole in a lace insertion bar within the exterior double ruffle.
