Unusual Edwardian Victorian Satin Mourning Gown Netting tulle beads pleats slip

Quite an unusual vintage black mourning dress or gown. While it provides full coverage it is slightly sexy in that the arms and part of the bodice are tulle (net) which allow for exposed skin; the slip liner provides some coverage but the upper arms are exposed. Atin with tulle with lots of detail.

All one piece but here is the desciption of each section. Scalloped design from shoulder to top of bust that is connected with tabs and a small bead in each tab; netting creates a flower at middle. Between scallops there is black netting and there is nude netting inside. Small beaded buttons with snap closures hidden. Sleeves: slight pouf; netting from shoulder down to forearm which expose skin; two bands of satin and the cuffs have the same satin scalloped design with bead buttons (for show).

Waistband - satin overlay with hook and eye closure and beads hanging down at edges. Skirt: black satin skirt with pleats on each side; overlay is black tulle netting in an asymmetrical style with two satin bands at bottom with netting covering it. Condition: overall it is in good vintage condition but there are a few items to note: (1) separation of netting at bottom where it was most likely stepped on - needs to be sewn (it is currently pinned); (2) when held up to light there are a few pinholes in the black satin but it is not visible as the tulle covers it and the black satin folds into gentle pleats; (3) the left underarm has some separation of the netting and (4) the material is fragile. The slip liner was used for display and will be included. It is larger - bust: 20 in and length is 36 in - not including the 7 in strap drop.
