Vintage 30's look bias cut, wine color printed silk chiffon, beaded tea dress with asymmetrical flutter hem and its own solid wine color silk crepe slip with wine lace trim at the neckline. Dress has draped neckline to show the wide wine colored lace edge at the top of the slip. Although this dress looks like it comes from the 1930's it was made in the 1980's. Thus you get a 1930's vintage look in a stable fabric and well made dress. This Dress is very difficult to measure being cut on the bias as bias cuts are very stretchy and meant to mold over the body.

My best estimate is that it fits a contemporary size 8 - 10. I have photographed it on my contemporary size 6 mannequin and it is a bit big on her. Bias cuts mold to the body and are very stretchy. They are also extremely flattering to the figure!

Thus it is best to go by size 8 - 10 dress measurements. Being bias cut it will fit an 8 to a 10 in a contemporary size range. Length reaches the ankles on a woman 5" 8" tall at the longest part of the asymmetrical hemline.

It measures 55 inches long off the body but will mold over the figure and fit a little shorter because of the bias cut. I give a range in the measurements due to the bias construction. If you are a size within this range this dress will fit you.

Size 8 measurements to fit 36.5" Bust, 29" Waist, 39 Hips. Size 10 measurements to fit 37.5" Bust, 30" Waist, 40 Hips. The wine silk slip is a bonus piece on its own! It can be worn as a slip with this dress, a slinky slip dress on its own or a slip with another dress, or as a very pretty nightgown. It is a nice weighty silk, not see through. Slip will fit the same measurements as the dress. Dress has lingerie straps with snaps on shoulders to hold slip straps in place. They can be unsnapped to wear slip separately if desired. The dress fabric is beaded on the front side but not on the back side, so you can sit down in this dress comfortably! This looks like the dresses the women in Downton Abbey wore to dinner. FYI Dress is in very good condition, clean and ready to wear. It was worn just once to a special occasion tango dance.

Pair it with evening sandals or delicate pumps, long gloves and dangling pearl earrings and it will look straight out of a dinner party at Downton Abbey. Also perfect for a Tango dance!
